UNIVERSITY
In
its
last
Special
Session
the
Louisiana
Legislature
authorized
the
Board
of
Regents
and
the
University
of
Louisiana
System
Board
of
Supervisors
to
assess
a
$10
per
credit
hour
up
to
$120
per
semester
Academic
Excellence
fee.
It
is
important
for
you
to
know
that
funds
generated
through
the
Academic
Excellence
Fee
remain
on
each
campus
for
improved
educational
services.
The
Legislature
has
directed
and
McNeese
has
made
provisions
for
students
with
demonstrated
hardships
brought
about
as a
result
of
this
fee
increase.
(This
increase
is
not
included
in
the
TOPS
scholarship).
In
the
event
you
are
unable
to
pay
this
increase,
please
contact
one
of
the
offices
indicated
in
the
Criteria
for
Determining
Financial
Hardship
information
(listed
below)
as
soon
as
possible
to
discuss
your
circumstances.

available

Office

the
Cashier’s
window
in
Smith
Hall,

CRITERIA
FOR
DETERMINING
FINANCIAL
HARDSHIP1
NOTE:
This
fee
increase
Is
not
included
in
the
TOPS
Scholarship
Students
must
meet
all
of
the
following
criteria.
-
Demonstrate eligibility for a Federal Pell Grant with Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of zero (0).
-
Be classified as a Louisiana resident by the Registrar’s Office
-
Be enrolled as full-time undergraduate student (12 or more hours) on the 28th day of the semester for which the eligibility for financial hardship is requested
-
Attain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
-
No financial assistance received such as institutional/Foundation scholarships, contracts, exemptions or other funds
-
Apply in writing to the Office of Business Affairs. Students must submit a Request for Determination of Financial Hardship form and appropriate documentation by the 28th day of the semester for which the eligibility is requested. The student must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and received a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Department of Education indicating Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Forms are available in the Office of Financial Aid.
