Career Management Battery
The Career Management Battery has been designed to provide you with information intended to lead you to greater self-understanding and to better decisions about the direction you will take in life.
Keep in mind that no one particular test will answer all your questions. We believe career choices should include an evaluation of interests, abilities, experiences, and motivations. On the basis of your findings in the Career Management Battery, you are encouraged to explore all relevant occupations in addition to those you are already considering. We are hoping to increase your awareness concerning the number of opportunities available to someone with your particular interests, abilities, experiences, and personality. It should be kept in mind that a satisfying career is not discovered but actively constructed by the individual. This will be a lifelong endeavor and not simply the work of a single afternoon.
The Career Management Battery consists of three assessment tools that will enable you to be more efficient in your search. These tools may be grouped into the following areas:
APTITUDE
MULTIDIMENSIONAL APTITUDE BATTERY (MAB-II)
Aptitude locates individual areas of talent as well as individual areas of weakness. Not all persons are talented in the same realism, and most persons are quite diverse.
INTEREST
STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY
Interests are areas with which you would enjoy more involvement. The test reflects your potential level of commitment compared to those of others already working successfully in their fields.
PERSONALITY
MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR (MBTI)
Personality reflects the diversity of behaviors that each of us has in differing amounts. Our personalities often determine how successful or how cumbersome we will be in a particular employment.
APPOINTMENT FOR TESTING
You may fill out Application for Career Testing below or contact Career Services Center at (337) 475-5611 to set up an appointment for testing. It will take approximately 3 hours to complete all the tests. An appointment will be set for a later date (within two weeks) to review your results.
There is a fee of $35.00 for students to be paid at the time of testing. If you pay by cash, it must be the exact amount, or you may choose to pay by check or money order made out to McNeese State University.

This website gives a quick look at specific occupations providing brief definitions of jobs and the type of work a person performs within that specific job title. The definition also provides what industry a job title is in. The job titles are arranged in alphabetical order. This website is useful if the specific job title is known. Jobs are arranged by a special coding system that is seen on the website.
O*NET Dictionary of Occupational Titles - http://online.onetcenter.org
This website provides worker characteristics, worker requirements, experience requirements, occupational requirements, occupation-specific requirement, and occupational characteristics. Quick job search is available as well as searching jobs through a “job family” and high growth industries. You can provide a list of your skills where O*NET will provide potential jobs based on your skills. Another option is to enter a code found in the DOT (see description above) to find related occupations in O*NET.

Career Informer highlights a specific occupation and display information on wages, employers and jobs that are available as well as the details of available education and training, the job requirements and the nature of the work involved. Finally, Job Market Explorer allows you to choose a career or occupation by analyzing the current labor market trends where you want to work, including wages, employment projections and educational requirements.
