  • Explain the steps in a standardized process for troubleshooting
  • Describe the tools commonly used to troubleshoot process operating problems
  • Predict how a system will respond to operating condition changes
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions
  • Apply material and energy balances to a system
  • Analyze controller response to operational changes
  • Point out the area of the process where the problems seem to start
  • Select causes that could lead to the conditions observed
  • Analyze each cause to determine if it could be the root cause
  • Devise a corrective action plan to address each possible root cause
