Act 506 of the 2001 Louisiana Legislative Session removed the sales of less than $125,000 exemption written in the original 1997 Louisiana Act. #1206 on Food Safety Certification. All food service licensees are required to have personnel with a valid Food Safety Certificate on duty the whole time food is being served. The SERVSAFE Serving Safe Food Sanitation Certification program meets the training and testing requirements to obtain a valid Food Safety Certificate from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. The exam will be administered the day of the class.

Attendees will learn the challenges to food safety, the HACCP system to prevent food borne illnesses, safe methods for purchasing, receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, holding, serving, cooling, and reheating, and how to maintain, clean and sanitize equipment and facilities, and ways to apply these principles in practical operational situations. Course fee includes ServSafe textbook, examination fee. Lunch is not provided.
