Beginning Calligraphy

The Art of Beautiful Writing! Have you always wanted to write beautiful invitations, greeting cards, gifts and correspondence? From tools to techniques, this class is a gentle introduction to the basics of calligraphy. Italics and cursive, which we will be studying, are beautiful, flowing, and consistent style of calligraphic lettering. While also being exposed to other lettering styles, students are encouraged to work individual projects with optional homework assignments. Individual attention is provided throughout the course. Dabblers and serious beginners are welcome!

For example, we will incorporate color sanding, layering, textural surprises, and creating a focus of light among others into our watercolor painting. Let's Make Some Christmas Earrings

Just in time for Christmas. Learn to make earrings for gifts and for yourself. Learn the three skills necessary to make most earrings. You'll leave with either a pair of Christmas tree earrings or a pair of snowman earrings made with stunning Swarovski crystals.

Beading is easy and fun and can be done most anywhere with little up-front cost.

All supplies and beads are included in the supply fee.

Paint Your Own Masterpiece: Edouard Manet

The beautiful painting, "The Banks of the Seine at Argenteuil" by impressionist Edouard Manet is the subject of this class. Beginners basic painting skills; copying by using a grid system, mixing colors, brush strokes, color wheel basics and composition will be reviewed and refined, while painting a copy of one of the most well known paintings in art history. The canvases will be pre-drawn with paint.

Stained Glass for Beginners
Instructor:Leah Broussard

Create your own artistic design and bring it to life in the shimmering colors of stained glass. The ancient art of glasswork is an artistically challenging, fun and relaxing pastime.

Personalized instruction will help students develop the technical craft needed to let their imaginations shine as they learn to design, cut and solder glass panels that they can take home to display as their first works of glass art. A $125 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class meeting. Please bring a regular pair of scissors.
