The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present Brent Gibson of Bridge City, Texas, in a free senior percussion recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall located in the Shearman Fine Arts Center.
The program includes “Population: 1 Too Many” by Dean Gronemeier, “Canned Heat” by Eckhard Kopetzki, “Variations for Solo Kettledrums” by Jan Williams and “Trio Per Uno” by Nebojsa Zivkovic. Gibson will be accompanied by Eric Boyett and James Lormand on percussion.
Gibson is a member of the McNeese Wind Symphony, Pride of McNeese Marching Band, McNeese Percussion Ensemble, McNeese Ragtime Pokes, McNeese Steel Band and McNeese Brazilian Bloco.
He is also a member of the Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra, a two-time member of the Louisiana Intercollegiate Band and a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. He is also a percussion instructor at Barbe High School.
