The administration of McNeese State University supports strict compliance with the provisions of copyright law as outlined in Title 17 of the United States Code and University of Louisiana System Policy and Procedures Memorandum FS-III.VI.-1a.
Each person employed by the University is responsible for understanding copyright law and adhering to its provisions. Employees who violate copyright law do so at their own risk and assume all liability. In addition, faculty who make course materials available through the McNeese Team Store must comply with copyright policies and law.
For practical answers to common questions of copyright in a university setting, McNeese State University references “Questions and Answers on Copyright for the Campus Community” by the National Association of College Stores. Key issues covered in this work include but are not limited to guidelines for copying print and digital works; guidelines for classroom copying; information about obtaining permission to copy; and an example of a copyright permission request form in PDF.
