What is MSU SBDC?
Vision Statement:
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center network is Louisiana’s preferred provider of entrepreneurial and small business assistance.
The mission is to facilitate the formation and growth of small businesses through individual consulting services, entrepreneurial training programs, and business information resources to develop and diversify the Louisiana economy.
The LSBDC at McNeese State University serves existing and potential owners/managers of for-profit small firms in the Louisiana parishes of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis. Located on the McNeese State University campus in the Burton Business Center, Room 133, the LSBDC at McNeese provides management and technical assistance needed by the small business community. One-on-one counseling with the professional staff members of the LSBDC is available to potential and existing small business owners. In addition to the permanent staff members, the LSBDC utilizes the faculty and student resources of the University as well as consulting professionals from the private sector.
Workshops and seminars are conducted throughout the five-parish area to keep small business owners, managers, and employees current with today’s practices and trends in the commercial world. These programs are designed to improve management skills required to successfully operate a small business.
The McNeese Center maintains a resource library of SBA publications, statistical information, census data, startup manuals, and business plans. The MSU Library is another local source of national, state, and local data.
Management and technical assistance services of LSBDC counselors/staff are provided at no charge. Charges may be incurred to cover client-approved direct expenses such as printing, postage, computer time, etc. A small fee may be charged for workshops or seminars.
Disclosure
The full disclosure of financial and/or other proprietary information to the LSBDC by the client is usually needed for counselors to provide effective assistance. All information received and developed in the course of counseling by LSBDC staff will be kept in strict confidence and not divulged without the permission of the client.
