This workshop is recommended for individuals exploring business ideas, planning to start, have recently started, or want to expand a small business and those seeking a small business loan. Topics of discussion include business feasibility, business planning, sources of funding, small business resources, and required licenses.

Federal Contracting Opportunities

This seminar focuses on businesses wanting to obtian federal government contracts and wish to understand the necesary tools and procedures for competing for emergency contracts caused by recent hurricanes. Training will also benefit contractors desiring to participate in the federal government contracting on a regular basis. Topics include the registration and acquisition processes, pricing and labor laws, size determinations, and prime and sub contracting.The speaker will be Robert Dempsey with the Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistance Office in Lafayette. This session is funded through the Louisiana Economic Development.

LCAI is a management training course designed to assist small and emerging construction businesses. This six week program teaches construction management and how to prepare for the Business and Laws portion of the General Contractors' State Licensing Exam. Topics include: bid process, contract management, estimating, equipment and business management, scheduling, occupational safety, risk management, financial management, bonding/access to capital, and certifications.

This free seminar is focusing on the needs of business owners, managers, suprevisors and human resource professionals. Topics include employment law from hiring to firing, updates in minor labor laws, the Small Business Capitalization Project, and training programs available through the Workforce Investment Act. Learn how to take advantage of available training dollars for your business as well as the latest developments in state and federal employment law. This session is presented by the Business and Career Solutions Center-Calcasieu Consortium.

This seminar is an overview of the features and capabilities of the Quickbooks software program. Those who should attend are business owners or their employees who may not be familiar with Quickbooks or have limited knowledge of the program. Handout materials and door prizes will be given.

This workshop is highly recommended for small business owners who pay their own taxes. Topics will include employee vs contracted labor, deadlines and penalties, required forms and methods of submission for federal business taxes.
