MCNEESE STATE UNIVERISTY
Accuplacer is a suite of computerized tests that determines your knowledge in math and writing as you prepare to enroll in college-level courses. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests, and ACT and SAT scores, are used by academic advisors and counselors to place you into a college course that meets your skill level.
You can prepare for ACCUPLACER by taking advantage of the study tools and resources offered, such as the sample test questions and free study app available on the ACCUPLACER website. These resources can help you identify the academic areas where you may need a little help and how to improve.
The College Board recommends that a student who does not achieve a placement score on the initial test be given a chance to retest in two weeks (14 days) from their initial test date. Retesting is only appropriate when there is reason to believe that a score obtained from the previous testing does not accurately reflect the examinee's true level of knowledge or skill.
Examinees may attempt a retest every 14 days.
Only 6 attempts are allowed every year.
Students unable to test at the McNeese Testing Center may test at an approved Accuplacer testing center. Not all testing centers are approved to offer the Accuplacer test. Search for the nearest approved site on the Accuplacer Student Portal website. To test at an approved Accuplacer testing center, check with your recruiter to ensure you are taking the correct tests. The test for placement into college-level English is called the Next-Generation Writing test. The test for placement into college-level Mathematics is called the Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics test. You must send your official scores through the Accuplacer system for McNeese to accept them.
Students are not allowed to use a personal calculator on the ACCUPLACER at McNeese State University. An onscreen calculator is provided for select items.
You can view and send your Accuplacer scores on the Accuplacer Student Portal website.

I am a McNeese graduate with a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science and a concentration in Child and Family Studies. As a student, I competed on the rodeo team and served on the SGA board. I earned my master’s degree in 2022 from the University of South Dakota in Educational Administration and Leadership with a concentration in Adult and Higher Ed. I have over 13 years of experience in adult education and 20 years of educational experience.
My favorite part of being a Freshman Advisor is helping students navigate their new life routine as a college freshman by offering support with in-person office visits or by email to help students meet their goals. I always remind students of my favorite BB King quote – “Education is one thing no one can ever take away from you.” I believe that supporting students is vital to a student's success.
In my spare time, I raise registered American Brahman cattle, and I enjoy all the "country girl" things like hunting, fishing, growing a garden and cooking.
