McNeese NSBE Chapter Attends National Convention

mcneese NSBE Officers and students

Officers and students from the McNeese chapter of National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) recently traveled to the 48th National NSBE Convention in Anaheim, Calif. During this convention, students received opportunities to attend workshops and informational chapter meetings, as well as participate in the Boeing flight and glider competitions. Two of NSBE’s graduate engineering students, Ali Al Saif and Simbarashe Mambiri, also presented their graduate research entitled, “Review of Zeolite Catalyst Properties and Reaction Mechanisms in Heterogeneous Acrolein Reactions.”

Several of the 21 students who attended also engaged in one-on-one interviews during the convention’s career fairs and subsequently qualified for internship or full-time positions with companies such as Pfizer, Abbott, Boeing, Raydeon Technologies, Honeywell, Clorox and Tesla Inc.

“By attending this convention, students were exposed to a broadened knowledge of professional presentation and decorum, as well as industry expectations,” says visiting assistant professor of computer science and faculty advisor for the NSBE Rhonda Anderson. “The NSBE student chapter is grateful for this opportunity and would like to extend a monumental thanks to all who made this trip possible.”
