Our division encompasses the Budget Office, Administrative Accounting, Purchasing & Property Control, Human Resources & Student Employment, and the Team Store. Together, we support students, faculty, and staff by delivering solution-driven services.
By maintaining strong financial stewardship and embracing forward-thinking strategies, we work alongside the University President to advance McNeese’s goals of stabilizing enrollment, fostering a thriving learning community, enhancing internal and external collaboration, and expanding faculty and staff support. Mrs. April Broussard
Vice President for Business Affairs and
Chief Financial Officer
April Broussard serves as Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Fiancial Officer at McNeese State University, providing leadership for the university's financial and administrative operations and helping ensure the responsible stewardship of resources that support student success and institutional excellence.
A second-generation McNeese graduate, Broussard brings more than 26 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, and higher education. Her career began in public accounting with a CPA firm in San Antonio before moving into healthcare finance and executive leadership roles in both hospital and private practice settings.
Broussard first joined McNeese in 2008 and served as University Registrar through 2015, overseeing student records and enrollment operations. She then accepted an executive leadership position in Baton Rouge with a large gastroenterology practice, where she gained additional extensive experience in healthcare administration, finance, and organizational management.
In 2019, Broussard returned to her alma mater as Operations Director for McNeese's behavioral health clinics. Her leadership and broad operational experience led to increasing responsibilities within the university. In 2024, she was invited to join the university's Executive Leadership Team as an interim appointment, and in 2025 she was appointed Vice President for Business Affairs.
As Vice President, Broussard oversees the management of the university's financial and physical resources and works collaboratively with campus and community partners to advance McNeese's mission of academic excellence, student achievement, and regional engagement. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes fiscal responsibility, transparency, innovation, and service.
As a lifelong advocate for McNeese and Southwest Louisiana, Broussard is passionate about ensuring the university remains financially strong and positioned to serve future generations of students. She believes higher education plays a transformative role in creating opportunities for individuals, strengthening communities, and supporting the region's economic future. Her career path reflects a longstanding commitment to McNeese, having served the university in roles supporting students, healthcare services, and institutional operations before assuming executive leadership
Broussard earned a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and an Associate of Science in Computer Information Technology from McNeese State University. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, where she has served multiple terms on the Business and Industry and Healthcare Committees.

I am a McNeese graduate with a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science and a concentration in Child and Family Studies. As a student, I competed on the rodeo team and served on the SGA board. I earned my master’s degree in 2022 from the University of South Dakota in Educational Administration and Leadership with a concentration in Adult and Higher Ed. I have over 13 years of experience in adult education and 20 years of educational experience.
My favorite part of being a Freshman Advisor is helping students navigate their new life routine as a college freshman by offering support with in-person office visits or by email to help students meet their goals. I always remind students of my favorite BB King quote – “Education is one thing no one can ever take away from you.” I believe that supporting students is vital to a student's success.
In my spare time, I raise registered American Brahman cattle, and I enjoy all the "country girl" things like hunting, fishing, growing a garden and cooking.
