NAMI On Campus To Host Debut Event

The McNeese student chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will host a free mental health literacy event Tuesday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Hardtner Hall Room 104. All current students and faculty are invited to discuss and learn about about the impact of, and how to identify, anxiety and depression within the student body on campus.

Speakers will deliver information about their symptoms and early signs and ways to help recognize them when they occur.

According to to Dhruv Sharma, the founder and president of the organization, “Mental health is an underappreciated issue when it comes to impacts on college student performance.”

This is the first event of the fledgling organization, and will be the first of many events to help spread awareness of mental health issues on campus.

“The issue needs more dialogue, and that is what the Mental Health Literacy Event is for,” Sharma says.
